The Thermostat is found within Dodge Magnum cars and it helps in controlling of the temperatures of the engine to ensure that the car is performing with optimum efficiency. A Dodge Magnum Thermostat is placed near the radiator and delivers closed-loop control to regulate the volume of coolant being circulated. Years back, numerous sorts of thermostats have been used in Dodge Magnum vehicles and these include mechanical thermostats such as bimetallic strip and wax pellet. These mechanisms work under the principle of variation in the size thus coping with heat in the engines. The main difference between the types lies in the method of their work, however, the thermostats with the help of wax pellets are used quite often in automobile due to their ability to provide accurate temperature control features. In a nutshell, the Dodge Magnum Thermostat plays a crucial role of regulating the flow of heat thereby ensuring efficiency and functionality of the engine.

Dodge Magnum Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Thermostat on a 2.7L Engine on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
First take off the negative cable to work or repair the thermostat on a 2.7L engine. Steam can cause serious burns by cooling on exposed skin, so don't remove the pressure cap while the coolant is hot and pressurized. After that, pull out the radiator lower hose from its housing connector to remove it. Following this, undo the nuts on the heater tube flange studs and free up the starter bolt from the heater tube bracket. Pull the heater tube from the thermostat casing and put it somewhere clear. After you have removed the vacuum line, remove the bolt, the two studs and then pull out the thermostat housing, O-ring and thermostat.
  • Q: How to Maintain Your Thermostat for Optimal Performance on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
Disconnect the car battery's negative cable and then drain the cooling system before you do any work on the thermostat. Undo the hose attached to the thermostat housing and then take the nuts off both heater tube flange studs and loosen the starter bolt from the bracket. Take out the heater tube from the thermostat and put it where it won't get in the way. After that, remove the bolt and both studs, then the thermostat housing, O-ring and thermostat assembly. Be sure to clean the areas where the gasket seals on your thermostat before installation, with the bleed valve at the top-left position between the tabs. Secure the thermostat into the housing and should the studs be taken out, install them again. Insert the O-ring and housing, then fasten them to the bolts until the torque reaches 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Apply some coolant to the end of the heater return tube O-ring, fit the tube flange on the studs and screw them on by hand until the nuts reach 6 Nm. Watch the starter bolt torque to 54.3 Nm (40 ft. lbs.), link the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing and install the hose clamps. Pour fresh coolant into your vehicle and once again connect the negative battery cable.
