To work on the front door hinge, first outline it on the door with a grease pencil and on the A-pillar and prop the door with a support. Unbolt the hinge from the A-pillar and then remove the bolts that link it to the door. Wipe the hinge clean with the right product, make sure it dries thoroughly and then paint it to match the car's paint job. Group the mounting holes, base the hinge on the door siding them with your reference marks and use a torque wrench to attach the hinge bolts by fastening them to 28 N.m (20 ft. lbs.) torque. Then, bring the hinge in line with the A-pillar markings and tighten the bolts to 28 N.m (20 ft. lbs.). Always keep your shims, if you have them, even when you no longer need them.
