Before taking out the radiator, detach the battery's negative cable and ensure your vehicle is cool and pressure-free so your hands remain protected. Elevate the vehicle using a hoist and empty the cooling system with tools including the 6094 clamp tool or the HPC-20 tool from Snap-On, all while keeping safe with safety glasses. Pull off the radiator lower hose at the radiator outlet, separate the transmission oil lines from their cooler fittings, cap them and put them out of reach. Drop down the vehicle before removing the engine oil filler tube, the upper support-to-cowl brackets of the radiator, the hose from the radiator to the filler neck, both bottles for washer fluid and coolant and the radiator fan. Remove the top of the radiator hose, fasten your fan shroud nuts and push the shroud back toward the engine with your hands. Lift the radiator out of the engine compartment by removing the bolts that hold it to the mountings, not touching any of the fins or core. Direct enough light pressure with cold water and air to the back of the radiator to clear out any dust and dirt. Check the radiator side tanks for any cracks, malfunctioning fittings and leakage. Also, examine the radiator's core for corrosion or damage to the cooling fins and tubes. Position the fan shroud at the back, then use your hand to start the lower bolts without tightening them, maneuver the radiator so its lower mounts flat onto the bolts and tighten the upper bolts to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Place the fan shroud against the radiator flange and tighten the mounting nuts to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Once you have the vehicle lifted, put in the radiator lower hose and clamp, undo the protective caps from the transmission oil cooler lines, examine them for damage and install on the cooler's fitting. Meanwhile, get the truck up on the lift or jackstands, let the truck down, put the upper hose on the radiator and place the clamp, attach the coolant recovery bottle with the tab fitted in the slot and tighten all mounting bolts to 37 in. lbs. Bring the coolant reserve line to the radiator filler neck, slap in your windshield washer reservoir, set up the radiator support brackets and slip on the engine oil filler tube. Fill the coolant in the system, then run the engine until it reaches its usual temperature, bleed the heater hose soon after, check the fluids in the cooling system and automatic transmission and perform checks on the brake system.
