Dodge Sprinter 2500 Starter Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to Remove and Install a Starter Motor on Dodge Sprinter 2500?
    A:
You can find the starter motor and solenoid assembly at the rear/left edge of the engine. You should start by removing the negative Battery Cable from the battery. Inside the hood, free the bolt that holds the wiring trough to the transmission bell-housing, then cut some of the nylon tie-wraps near the starter motor so the wiring trough comes loose and will sit there as you access the starter. Remove both solenoid wiring harness nuts next and disconnect the solenoid wire connector and battery cable from the stud on the solenoid. Lift up the vehicle, support it, loosen and eliminate the two E14Torx bolts and then pull the starter away from the transmission bellhousing. For assembly, lift and secure the vehicle once more, put the starter motor under the transmission and fix it in place using both bolts. Decrease the vehicle and screw in the two nuts to connect both the battery cable and solenoid wiring with the solenoid, observing the right torque values. Put the wiring harness trough in place and install the retaining bolt, use new nylon tie-wraps to hold the trough before hooking up the negative battery cable.
  • Q:
How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on Dodge Sprinter 2500?
    A:
First, remove and put aside the negative (black) Battery Cable to work on the starter motor. Next, get the vehicle off the ground and make sure it's supported before getting rid of the belly pan. Following this, remove the bolt that fastens the retainer bracket holding the starter wiring harness to the transmission bellhousing. Put in the red wrench to remove the cable from the positive terminal on the battery and from the starter solenoid as well. Take out the last two mounting bolts (E14Torx) and pull the starter out of the transmission bellhousing.
