  Before service, you should turn off the supplemental restraint system by removing and isolating the negative Battery Cable for two minutes to stop a possible accidental air bag activation. Take off the switch for cruise control from the steering column in the beginning. Once done, get to the screw found at the bottom of the steering column trim on the right, where it holds the multi-function switch, bracket and trim to the upper tab. Take off the multi-function switch, mounting bracket and steering column trim all together. After that, from behind the unit, undo the screws that hold the multi-function switch in place on the mounting bracket and the steering column trim to remove the multi-function switch itself.

  To avoid an accidental air bag deployment while installing the switch, first, disconnect the battery negative cable and wait for two minutes until the system capacitor is fully discharged. Set the multi-function switch next to the steering column trim and the mounting bracket. At the back, attach the multi-function switch to the trim and bracket on the steering column and make sure the screws are well tightened. Then, secure the switch, bracket and covering over the top of the steering column together. Reach through the access hole in the lower right side of the steering column trim to screw the fastener that holds the multifunction switch, mounting bracket and trim to the tab above the steering column. After that, insert the speed control switch into the steering column and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
