Before servicing or repairing the ignition switch, first remove the cover over the central electronics and the column shroud. After that, separate the transponder coil from the key area in the ignition lock. Enter the ignition key with the ignition unlocked and turn it until you arrive at the first stop. Move the cap by a quarter turn to the left and then take it along with the lock cylinder from the ignition lock. After installation, press the cap down and twist it a quarter of a turn to the right. Like before, turn the key to the first detent and then remove it from the lock in the ignition switch. Enable the transponder coil within the ignition lock and be sure the shroud between the steering wheel and dashboard is not caught up with any cables under the cover. After everything else, snap the cover back onto the central electronics.
