Q: How to Install and Secure the Bolts for the Front Cross-Member and Rear Crossmember on Jeep Compass?
A:
Begin by putting the fore/aft crossmember across the center of the car and pushing the anti-roll mount through bolt (2) into it. After that, follow this order: tighten bolt (1) to 78 Nm (58 ft. lbs.), bolt (2) to 78 Nm (58 ft. lbs.) and finish by tightening bolt (3) to 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.). Following that, set the torque on bolt (2) to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.). When a belly pan is included, join it by screwing the three front screws (4) and three rear screws (2) into place and insert a push pin fastener in the center of the belly pan.
Q: How to Service and Repair the Front Cross-Member and Rear Crossmember on Jeep Compass?
A:
Before servicing or fixing a cross-member, lift and support the car. After that, get rid of the wheel well screws. Should the vehicle have these, remove the three front screws, three rear screws and the center push pin fastener. After that, take out the bolts holding the crossmember together and the engine roll mount front bolt before you can remove the fore/aft crossmember.
