Before you remove and fit a rear coil-over shock absorber, remove the cargo floor cover and the rear floor pan silencer. If it is necessary, unscrew the side nuts that hold the satellite receiver or amplifier into place on the floor panel and put the component close by, so the upper shock assembly nuts in the quarter panel can be installed. With the spare tire out, raise the shock assembly door to the top and use the openings made from removing the rear floor pan silencer and this upper door to access the upper mounting nuts. Take out the two nuts that tie together the shock assembly and the body bracket. Hold the vehicle up and then get rid of the nuts that secure the rear tire assembly. Next, take out the shock lower mounting nut and bolt and pull the entire assembly out from the body bracket, lifting it over the back suspension.

How to Install a Shock Absorber on the Rear on Jeep Compass?

Turn the lower control arm upside down and from there insert the lower part of the shock into the car just above the chassis. After that, use the oil draining control to lift the shock into place in the body bracket. Now, mount the fixing bolt and nut onto the shock assembly and onto the lower control arm, but leave them for the moment until you've pushed the shock in. After that, put the wheel and tire together and engage the holding nut and bolt to 135 Nm or 100 ft. lbs. Once the vehicle is low, take the nuts out of the rear door pocket and put them into the quarter trim, tighten them to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). Fold down the nut access door on the upper mounting holder to close the opening. Should your car have them, fit the satellite receiver or amplifier to the rear floor pan, then add the rear floor pan silencer and a cargo floor cover. Use an alignment rack or drive-on lift, then raise the vehicle as much as needed to get to the shock bolt and nut. Finally, turn the nut on the shock assembly's lower mounting bolt to 99 Nm or 73 ft. lbs.
