After opening the hood, lift the accelerator pedal inside the car and use care to remove the retainer and core wire of the throttle cable found on the upper pece of the pedal arm. From there, pry the cable core wire from the pedal arm and unclip the cable from the panel on the dash. Pull the cable housing into the engine bay and undo it from the routing clips that mark the engine valve cover. Take the cable connector out by snapping its end toward the back, where it connects to the throttle body bellcrank ball. For the 4.0L engine, slightly compress the tabs on the bracket and push the throttle cable via the hole to free it from the bracket, then remove it from the car. Slide the throttle cable into the hole in the bracket and when the release tabs lock, link the cable ball to the bellcrank ball of the throttle body, then use the clips under the engine valve cover to fasten the cable in place. With the cable assembly out of the way, push the rubber grommet into the dash board as far as it will go and then secure it. Insert the cable housing into the rubber grommet and into the hole through the dash panel and then push the clip holding the cable onto the dash from inside the car. Insert the core wire of the throttle cable through the opening at the peak of the pedal arm, then push on the cable retainer as you insert it into the arm opening. Manually move the throttle after you secure the accelerator pedal to make sure it is free.
