In the first step, you have to unplug and cover the negative
Battery Cable. Push the shift lever back against your leg and pull up sharply to free the knob. Should the knob not come off when held, wrap a shop towel around its base, insert the puller and use the slide hammer to pull it out. When working on a manual transmission vehicle, separate the shifter boot from the console cover using trim stick C-4755, unbolt the main item and remove the manual transmission shifter from the shifter shaft. Pull the parking brake lever all the way up which can be done even before you engage the parking brakes. Grab the spring end of the park brake clutch with a long wire hook and pull it up to be sure the clutch is deactivated as you pull up on the brake lever. Should the car have one, uninstall the
Cup Holder or ash receiver and then take off the console bezel with trim stick C-4755. Remove the electrical connector and, using a Phillips screwdriver, undo the four screws in the console. To finish, pull out the console from the clip retainers and get rid of it.
