Before you install, wipe the tailgate contact area on the channel with cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Eliminate the paper backing on the new channel and secure the weather strip to the tailgate with push pin fasteners. Lay the weather strip channel on the tailgate and push it in place partly by hand and partly with a rolling pin to get a full bond. After that, place the push pin fasteners on the back of the weather strip and use them to attach it to the tailgate. Then insert the weather strip into the tracks on the door.
