After installation, let the urethane lose its stickiness for at least 24 hours prior to using the vehicle. Pull down the front door glasses on the left and right and open the glass rear slider if it's available, because shutting any door before the urethane is dry can allow water inside. Clear away all but around 1 to 2 millimeters of the existing urethane from the windshield fence and do not take out all the old glue which may spoil the new paintwork and the bond strength. Add any spacers that are missing or broken from around the perimeter where the windshield sits. For a glass installed before, smooth out the old windshield adhesive so it is only about 1 mm thick, remove any loose material and then install four new spacers at the top and sides of the glass and two spacer assemblies below. Always place your windshield in the middle of the opening, lower it onto the spacers without pressure and add adhesive tape for the final mount, with the windshield gap straight. Pull off the tape and remove the windshield, next, use a good solvent to prep the glass surface you plan to re-glue. Make sure that your glass primer has not been damaged, prime any flawed areas and if forgotten adhesive has been exposed for more than 12 hours, prime the whole surface. Spread primer (1) along the edge of the glass to a width of 18 mm (0.7 in.) and then 6 mm (0.25 in.) from the edge, making sure it's not wet on contact with the glass and letting it dry for a minimum of 10 minutes. If you are installing a new windshield, add four spacers, insert the rear lower spacer assemblies (2) and put the windshield (2) in the middle of the opening. Look over the condition of your windshield for damages, apply adhesive tape, check how wide the windshield gap is and finally remove any dirt and prepare the area for glue. Apply the primer around the sealing edge of the windshield, just like explained above. Clean the area under the windshield, thin the adhesive residue to 1 mm with a trimming knife and wipe the region that will be glued again. Reprime any places that are still exposed and let the primer dry for approximately 10 minutes in any case. While installing, pick up a triangular adhesive nozzle and squeeze a narrow bead onto the center of the windshield at the bottom, so the bead is 9.5 mm wide and about 12.7 mm high (1). Keeping to the outline of the tape, lift the windshield (1) into its position and then press down on it. Two people should never try to set the windshield into position, as this could damage it. The last step is installing the rearview mirror where appropriate.
