2000 Chrysler Cirrus Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Downstream Oxygen Sensor 1/2 on 2000 Chrysler Cirrus?
A: To change the Oxygen Sensor located 1/2 down, open the negative battery cable and lift the car. Remove the electrical connector from the sensor and release the sensor electrical harness from its clips on the body. Take out the sensor with a special wrench called the Snap-On tool YA8875 or an equal model. After removing the exhaust manifold, clear its threads with a 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. Should you choose to reuse the sensor, put anti-seize compound like Loctite (R) 771-64 or its equivalent onto the threads; new sensors are already coated and do not need more. Adjust the sensor so it has a torque of 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) Attach the sensor electrical wires to their clips under the vehicle and then attach the electrical connector to the sensor. Set the car down into place and reattach the negative battery cable.
