To fix alternate, remove the negative battery cable, raise the vehicle and remove the splash shield and transmission cooler. Support the radiator and loosen bolts and remove the drive belt. Disconnect the wires Remove the generator and reinstall it. Finally, put components back together and reconnect battery, making sure to get torque right.
