2000 Chrysler LHS Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Reinstall a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2000 Chrysler LHS?
A: The Camshaft Position Sensor is found in the cover over the left camshaft sprocket in the timing belt housing. First, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and next remove the upper intake plenum. Then, take out the electrical connector from the sensor and remove the Camshaft Position Sensor screw. Pull the sensor out of the cover that holds the timing belt. After removing the sensor, scrape off the old spacer from its face and then place a New Spacer inside it before you put it back in. For a new sensor, ensure the paper spacer is already placed over the head on the face. Put the sensor into the timing belt housing and lower it down so it contacts the camshaft sprocket. Once the sensor is held in place, put in the retaining bolt and tighten it to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.) torque. Link the sensor's electrical connector back up, install the upper intake plenum and attach the negative battery cable.
