2000 Dodge Caravan Cigarette Lighter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Cigarette Lighter on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: Before anything else, separate and disconnect the negative battery cable to work with the Cigarette Lighter. Unlock the lighter base by finding the retaining bosses and squeeze and push the bosses out with external snap ring pliers. Simply rock the pliers around the mounting ring to gently pull the base out or try a specialized tool for the same task. Remove the base wires and put the base down and then unwire the connections from the light ring. Before installation, place the mount ring on the instrument panel and pass all wires through the ring. The tab at 9 o'clock on the ring should be lined up with the key in the instrument panel before you install the ring. Link the wires to the base, making sure the base alignment rib is at 11 o'clock to match the groove in the mount ring and push the base into the bezel so it clicks. Next, set the 12-volt lighter cap onto the RV and ensure the lighter or element is working properly.
