  A: Before servicing or repairing the ignition lock cylinder, first disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Get rid of the retaining screws on the cover of the steering column, then unscrew and remove the screws holding the shrouds around the steering column and remove the lower shroud. After placing the key cylinder in the RUN position, push down on the retaining tab for the lock cylinder to remove it. To install the unit, position the key into the lock, turn it to set RUN and this will depress the retaining tab. Make sure the last piece of the lock's shaft fits into the socket of the housing and that the socket is in the RUN position. Arrange the lock cylinder in the grooves of the housing and move it in until its tab comes through the opening. Insert the key in the OFF position and take it out. After installing the lower steering column shroud, place the steering column cover on and then attach the negative cable to the battery.
