2000 Dodge Caravan Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain Your Thermostat on 2000 Dodge Caravan?
A: The first step in servicing the thermostat is to drain you A/C coolant liquid below the level of the thermostat. Remove the thermostat housing bolts and housing and get rid of the old gasket while you are at it. Then remove the thermostat and clean both of the gasket's sealing surfaces. Installation requires applying a clean water-soaked gasket to the engine outlet connector area and then setting the thermostat into its housing. Place the engine outlet connector and the gasket over the thermostat, making sure they are correctly in position in the housing. Attach the outlet connector to the thermostat housing and tighten the bolts down to 250 inch lbs. (28 Nm). Lastly, put the coolant back in the cooling system to the desired amount.
