2000 Dodge Dakota Cigarette Lighter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Cigarette Lighter on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before you recharge the cigarette lighter, disconnect the main battery negative cable. Take out the lower bezel from the instrument panel. For the cigarette lighter, push in the knob and element into the base or remove the locking cap from the cigarette lighter. Find the rectangular retaining bosses inside the receptacle base that keep it fixed to the instrument panel lower bezel. Press the cone ends of the external snap ring pliers into the bottom ring boxes and carefully rock to ease the base out of the mounting hole. Removing the cigarette lighter mount from the instrument panel lower bezel is the next thing to do. To install, once more, put the mount into the lower bezel until the splines on the receptacle base connector connect with the grooves on the mount. Squeeze down until the retaining bosses are all the way in and secured. After replacing the element or below-bezel in the base, install the cigarette lighter onto the panel and tie the bezel back on just below. Once finished, link the battery back to its negative cable.
