2000 Dodge Dakota Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: To maintain the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley, first take out the negative battery cable. Lift the serpentine drive belt and the fan shroud and then remove the bolt and washer from the vibration damper. Take advantage of Vibration Damper Removal Tool 7697 to take out the damper connected to the crankshaft. Index the key with Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant in the keyway of the crankshaft and insert the key. Set the keyway on the vibration damper hub in line with the crankshaft key and tap the damper onto the crankshaft. Screw in the bolt of the vibration damper and place the washer onto the threads, tighten with a torque wrench set according to the manual. After that, put on the new serpentine belt and make sure it has the proper amount of tension. Following this, reattach the negative cable to the battery.
