2001 Dodge Dakota Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Remove the battery's negative cable as your first step in working with the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley. Get rid of the serpentine belt and fan shroud and loosen the bolt as well as the washer holding the blade vibration damper. You can disconnect the damper from the crankshaft using Vibration Damper Removal Tool 7697. Applying Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant to the keyway in the crankshaft, fit and push the key gently into position. Guide the keyway of the vibration damper hub to the crankshaft key and then tap the damper onto the shaft. Insert the vibration damper's retaining bolt and washer and tighten it to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.) torque. Then, fit the serpentine drive belt in place and check the tension until you meet the required standard. After this, re-attach the battery's negative cable.
