2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Before servicing the Camshaft Position Sensor, separate the electrical connector from the Camshaft Position Sensor harness. Unscrew the fastener holding the sensor using the opening in the bracket for the tool access. Move the sensor to a different angle and take it out of the cover, making sure the cable by the sensor doesn't get pulled hard. If the O-ring holds the sensor so firmly that you cannot separate it, give the sensor a light tap with your finger. While installing the sensor, clean the old spacer off the front and attach a new spacer before you continue. Look at the O-ring to see if it is damaged and replace it if you notice any signs of damage. If changing the sensor, place the paper spacer correctly on the face and place the O-ring into the groove on the new sensor. Add a bit of engine oil to the O-ring before fitting the sensor into the chain case, make sure the sensor is in position and then turn it into place using the chain case cover. Slide the sensor down enough to touch the camshaft gear, hold the position and tighten the retaining bolt to a torque of 14 Nm (125 in. lbs.). Make sure to connect the electrical connector to the harness once again.
