How to Maintain a Shock Absorber on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?

Before you service the shock absorber, lift the vehicle and support it on jackstands or a frame contact hoist, making sure the rear axle is held in place with 2 jackstands placed at the outer ends. If the bolt pops up when removing the lower mounting bolt of the shock, raise the axle using the support jack; if it goes down, lower the axle. Start by removing the shock absorber's lower bolt, afterwards hold the shock and take out its upper bolt and the shock itself. Standing the shock absorber against the frame rail, first secure it to the upper fixture bolt, then to the lower bolt on the axle. Take the jack out and get the vehicle down so all the weight is on the suspension again. When you are done, set the torque for both upper and lower shock absorber mounting bolts to 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.).
