2000 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Keep in mind where each radiator and condenser air seal is located and get them in the exact same position when assembling your system. First, unhook the negative battery cable and then recover the refrigerant from your vehicle's system. After removing the stud nut that holds the block fitting to the condenser inlet, disconnect the hose from the condenser and put caps or tape over the openings in the refrigerant lines. Next, remove the fitting that holds the liquid line to the condenser outlet and cover or plug all the holes you opened along the way with tape. Take out the two screws holding the upper mounting brackets to the upper radiator crossmember. Then, tilt the condenser away from the engine compartment, grab the top and lift it out, removing the bottom locators from the isolators in the lower crossmember before taking the condenser from the car. To install, insert the two lower condenser locators into their correct isolator places, bend the condenser up so the upper holes are aligned with the bottom radiator brackets, insert the screws and tighten them to 10.5 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Pull out or remove the tape from the fittings on the refrigerant line of both the liquid line and the condenser outlet and then link the liquid line to the condenser outlet. Put a new gasket on and install the discharge line block fitting over the condenser inlet stud, tightening the mounting nut until you reach 20 Nm (180 in. lbs.). Place all condenser and radiator air seals where they should be, reconnect the negative battery cable, empty the refrigerant from the system and fill it back in. If the condenser is serviced, replace the refrigerant oil by adding 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of what the official service guide says is right for the vehicle.
