How to Maintain and Fix a Door Hinge on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500?

Before servicing the front door hinge, take out the cowl trim panel and the hidden bolt that joins the hinge to the hinge pillar. Put the door on top of a suitable lifting device and use a grease pencil or other marking tool to outline the hinge on the door pillar. After that, take out the bolts holding the hinge to the pillar, the nut and bolt at the door end frame and lastly, remove the door hinge from the vehicle. When painting is needed, paint the new door hinge and put it in place on the door end frame, using the marks for alignment. Fasten the nuts and bolts onto the door hinge at the end of the door frame and make sure they reach 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) of torque. Attach the bolts that fasten the door hinge to the hinge pillar, giving them 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) of torque and attach the hidden bolt from the door hinge to the hinge pillar and tighten it to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, take off the support and attach the cowl trim panel once more.
