2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Seat Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Seat Switch on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Your first step should be to disconnect and isolate the negative cable of the battery to handle the power seat switch. For a standard cab, take out the two screws that hold the switch and bezel to the frame of the seat cushion, slide the switch and bezel forward and you'll gain access to the connector at the base of the switch. Pull the locking tabs of the switch away from the wire harness and disconnect the cable from the power seat switch module. After that, unscrew the two screws holding the power seat switch module in place on the bezel and pull the bezel out. To insert the switch, restore the previous dismantling sequence and tighten the screws holding the switch mounts to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Start with the battery negative cable disconnected, then remove the screw holding the recliner lever to the release shaft next to the gear shifter. Pull the recliner lever after that. Undo the three screws that fix the driver side seat cushion side shield to the outboard frame, pull the side shield away from the seat cushion frame and find the power seat switch module wire harness connector on the harness. Lift the locking tabs of the connector on the switch, separate the wires and then take the connector off the switch module. Take out the side shield and power seat switch module all at once. Located on the inside of the seat cushion side shield are two screws, unscrew them and take out the switch afterward. When installing, do the opposite of what you did to remove the switch and be sure to tighten the mounting screws to 2.2 Nm or 20 in. lbs.
