  • Q: How to Perform a Seat Switch Replacement for the Passenger Power Seat on 2001 Dodge Ram 1500?
    A: You should first separate and insulate the battery negative cable before switching the passenger power seat button. To remove the 6-way system, unscrew the two bolts keeping the power seat switch and bezel secure to the seat cushion frame. Removing the seat cushion side shield from the seat is necessary when swapping out an 8-way power seat. Move the switch bezel or side shield unit far enough back to find the switch wire harness connector, press down on the locking tabs and unplug the connector from the power seat switch module. Unscrew the screws to take out the power seat switch. Slide the power seat switch onto the seat cushion side shield, connect the electrical connector and finally add the screws to secure the switch in place on the shield. Replace the side shield on the seat by installing it on the seat cushion side. If your car comes with this lever, hook it onto the shaft of the recliner and use the screw near the front seat bottom to secure it on the outside of the front seat. After that, connect the negative cable from the battery again.
