2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Caliper on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: First, lift your vehicle, support it properly and then release the front tire from the wheel before beginning. Following this, release the caliper brake hose bolt and its washers and hose, then remove both bolts that hold the caliper to the mount. To replace the calipers, tilt the top up and take the antirattle springs out of the adapter; make sure that you don't mix up the top and bottom springs. When you are going to install, make sure to clean the caliper mounting adapter and anti-rattle springs first. Place the caliper's bottom over the rotor and under the adapter, then press the top part of the caliper onto the adapter. Attach the caliper with the bolts and tighten them to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Attach the brake hose to the caliper with seal washers and tighten the fitting bolt to a torque reading of 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) so the hose does not get twisted. After bleeding the base brake system, mount the tires and wheels as you did before, push aside the supports and lower the vehicle. Check that you are wearing your foot properly before you drive away.
