2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Lower Suspension Control Arm on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Before servicing and repairing the lower suspension arm, lift and support the vehicle and then take off the tire and wheel assembly. After that, remove the brake caliper assembly and rotor. Eliminate the cotter pin and nut from the tie rod and then use Puller C-3894-A to detach the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Take off the stabilizer bar link from the lower suspension arm, then put a jack under the outboard part of the arm in front of where the shock is attached. Remove the cotter pin as well as the nut from the lower ball joint and then use Remover C-4150A to remove the ball joint. Raise the jack, undo the bolt beneath the lower shock and remove the spring and rubber isolator once the suspension arm is lowered. Loosen the bolts where the suspension arm is mounted and pull away the arm. To set up the suspension arm, put it on the crossmember and bolt it into place tightly. Lay the rubber isolator over the spring and rest the spring into the upper spring seat. Jack up the wheel and add the spring to the lower suspension arm mount. Set the lower shock bolt and secure it with 142 Nm (105 ft. lbs.) of torque. First, attach the steering knuckle to the lower ball joint, tighten the lower ball joint nut to the required Nm torque and put in the cotter pin after installing the nut. Attach the other end of the stabilizer bar link to the lower suspension arm, following that with the grommet, retainer and nut, then tighten to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.). Place the tie rod end on the steering knuckle, make sure the nut is tightened to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.) and put in the cotter pin. Set the brake rotor and caliper assembly onto the car again and affix the tire back in place. Ease the vehicle down, then close the support and secure the crossmember nuts in the suspension arm to 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.).
