2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Exhaust Manifold on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: To work on the exhaust manifold, start by taking off the negative cable from the battery and getting the vehicle off the ground. Remove the bolts connecting the exhaust pipe to the engine exhaust manifold, let the car down and then remove all the exhaust heat shields. After that, remove the bolts, nuts and washers holding the manifold to the cylinder head, then take the manifold out. Should any studs come open with the nuts when being removed, seal the coarse part of new studs with sealer to prevent water from getting in. Set the engine exhaust manifolds onto the studs near the tail of the cylinder head and connect conical washers and nuts after them. Attach two bolts and conical washers where the engine exhaust manifold outboard arms join at their inner ends and attach two bolts without washers to the middle arm of the manifold. First tighten the bolts in the center arm, then move out to the arms and tighten them to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Replace the exhaust heat shields, then lift and hold the vehicle again to connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold, putting bolts in the holes and nutting them on, finishing by tightening them to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) torque. Afterward, bring the vehicle down and reattach the negative cable to the battery.
