2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the brake caliper on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: Before doing any work on the brake caliper, you should first lift the vehicle, then remove the front wheel and tire assembly. Published Text Next, break the connection between the brake hose, washers and bolt. Finish by taking out the caliper bolts. To take off the caliper, tilt it up at the bottom and remove the anti-rattle springs; however, the upper and lower springs are not supposed to be used together. While installing, wipe the caliper mounting adapter and anti-rattle springs, spray Mopar brake grease or Dow Corning 6807 grease on the caliper mounting bolts and anti-rattle springs and secure them with a thread locker. Apply the anti-rattle springs, tilt the caliper enough to cover the rotor and adapter and press the bottom of the caliper down on the adapter. Strengthen the caliper by bolting it securely and setting the tightness to no more than 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Screw the new seal washers on the caliper, then tighten the fitting bolt to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) after ensuring the brake hose is untwisted and not kinked before you tighten it. After that, drain the base brake system, fit the wheel and tire sets, take away the supports and lower the vehicle. Make sure the firm pedal is pressed in before setting the vehicle in motion.
