If anything like scoring, scuffing or sticking is visible in a cylinder block's bore or tappet, enlarge the bore and replace the tappet with an oversize part. Be sure that the plunger and tappet bodies are not the same and the plunger and valve go with the original body, so don't mix components between tappets. If you need to, pull apart and put together the tappets. Remember to grease the tappets and place them with the push rods in their original places, so the oil feed hole in the tappet points toward the top.
