In order to service the 248 RBI Axle, the wheel, brake drum, and the axle shaft should be removed. Unscrew the lock wedge and the adjustment nut then the hub assembly. Install new bearings and seals, clean and lubricate, and reassemble parts making sure they are well adjusted and installed so as not to damage them.
