2000 Dodge Ram 3500 Brake Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear Brake Disc on Dual Rear Wheels on 2000 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: First, raise and support your vehicle. After that, take off the tire and wheel set to access the rear brake disc. Unfasten the caliper so that it doesn't fall and hurt the brake hose while you are working. It's important to drain a little bit of fluid from the master cylinder, then take out the banjo bolt from the brake hose and discard the old copper washers when replacing the caliper. Next, get rid of the caliper slide bolts and take the caliper out of the vehicle, then deal with the caliper adapter bolts. For dual rear wheels, disconnect the rear axle shaft from the axle housing and the hub plus disc assembly, if needed. With the SRT-10, squeeze the brake caliper with C4212F and then detach the three bolts connecting the caliper, along with the banjo bolt, tossing away the copper washer. Once the hub installs on the dual rear wheels, fasten the bolts to 128 Nm (95 ft. lbs.), together with the concentric hub and disc. Then, use the same torque for the rear axle shaft, caliper adapter bolts and the hub and rear axle assembly. In the last step, fit the disc brake caliper. For the SRT-10, change the banjo bolt washer, then connect the new copper washer, the caliper and tighten the bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and finish by tightening the caliper pin bolts to a maximum of 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). After bleeding the brakes on the base system, reinstall the tires and wheels and only then lower the vehicle.
