2000 Dodge Ram 3500 Van Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the catalytic converter on 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
A: You should lift and support your vehicle before handling the catalytic converter. Cover the nuts and bolts with heat valve grease and give them about 5 minutes so lime can pass through them. Unscrew the clamps and nuts, then take away the catalytic converter. Assemble the converter and clamps roughly in place, then put the exhaust pipe onto the manifolds and tighten it with a force of 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). After that, torque each clamp nut to 43 Nm or 32 ft. lbs. Lower the car, start it, look for exhaust leaks and check that there is no contact between the exhaust system and the body of the vehicle, giving all exhaust parts at least 25.4 mm (1.0 inch) of clearance from the car body or frame.
