For catalytic converter service and repairs, you need to support and prop up the vehicle first. Place a thick coat of heat valve lubricant onto your bolts and nuts, then set aside for five minutes. Then, take off the clamps and nuts and finally remove the catalytic converter. During installation, attach the converter loosely first, add the clamps and secure the converter by tightening the exhaust pipe at 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Then tighten all clamp nuts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). Lower the car and start it up to look for exhaust leaks and always make sure there is a minimum space of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) between different exhaust parts and the body/frame, as necessary.
