2000 Dodge Viper Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: The fuel level sensor service and repair begins by removing the fuel pump module. Following that, press down on the retaining tab to remove the fuel pump/level sensor connector from the lower end of the fuel pump module electrical connector. Pull the locking wedge back first and then pick up a small screwdriver to carefully lift the locking finger away from the terminal and push the terminal out from the connector. Release the level sensor from the pump module by pushing out the signal for the level sensor and the ground, then pushing the tab on the connector down. To start the installation, put the sensor wires into the bottom of the module, then wrap them along the groove in the level sensor at the rear. After feeding the wires, put the level sensor up until it snaps securely into the channel. Gently move the wires from the sensor to the connector such that they go up first, then twist them down until they fit well and signal and ground wires are placed as they should be. After that, place the locking wedge onto the connector, raise the connector into the bottom of the fuel pump module's electrical connector and attach the fuel pump module back in place.
