2000 Dodge Viper Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: Start the rocker arm assembly repair by pulling on the spark plug boot straight out and in the same row as the spark plug. After that, separate the closed ventilation system from the head cover on the cylinder and take off the head cover with its gasket. Remove any two rocker pedestal bolts on each cylinder and take out the rocker arm assemblies together. After disassembling the rocker arm assemblies for any reason, assemble them once more in their original positions. Before installation, attach the retainer to each rocker arm and stand assembly and when installing, tighten them both to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Make sure to tighten the pedestal bolts gently and let the engine sit for 20 minutes after changing the bolts before working the motor. Carefully clean the cover of the cylinder head gasket and check for twisting or bending of the covers and gaskets; change them if any are bent. If necessary, replace the old cylinder head rail gasket and then properly tighten the cylinder head fasteners according to the order from 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). After that, put the closed crankcase ventilation system in place, connect the water tube and attach the spark plug wires back to the wire separator.
