2000 Dodge Viper Lash Adjuster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Lash Adjuster on 2000 Dodge Viper?
A: The first step to repair and service the lifter and lash adjuster is to take out the cylinder head(s) and the aligning yoke assemblies. Use the C-4129 tool to remove each tappet from their bores and be sure to identify them so you know which one goes back where when putting them back. You should not disassemble the tappets. When installing, lubricate the tappets and put them back in their original spots so the alignment dots are visible on the tops. After the roller tappets are in place, put the aligning yoke assemblies back together and use Mopar Lock and Seal on the special screws, tightening them to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). After screwing on the cylinder heads, start the engine and let it warm up to normal temperature. Avoid keeping the engine at fast idle until all hydraulic tappets are full of oil and no longer make any noise so you don't overload the valve system.
