2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Vapor Canister Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Vapor Canister in the Engine Compartment on 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: The brake power booster and EVAP canister are both placed close to each other in the engine compartment. To begin removal, take off both the duty cycle EVAP canister purge solenoid and its bracket by removing 2 nuts. After that, remove the vacuum lines from the EVAP canister. Second, take out the 2 canister bolts from the front mounting bracket and unhook the canister from the rear bracket's 2 pins. Line up the canister with the body, so that the guide pins find their place in the rear bracket during installation. Put in the canister mounting bolts and set the torque to 11 Nm; this is equal to 100 in. lbs. After the vacuum lines are connected and there is no damage or leak, emissions systems may turn on the Check Engine light. After that, connect the duty cycle EVAP canister purge solenoid and its mounting bracket to the front of the canister using 2 nuts tightened to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.) torque.
