How to Service and Repair a Door Latch Assembly on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?

Remove the trim around the door and roll the window fully upward to service and repair the latch. Remove the lock cylinder from the latch rod, the lock knob from the latch rod and the outside handle from the latch release rod. Tap off the screws that connect the latch to the door, slide the latch into place inside the door and unhook the handle from the rod before you take the latch out. When installing, put the latch back into the door and attach the inside handle to the latch rod. Screw the latch into the door and after checking that it fits, apply adhesive to the weather strip before you position it. Fit the outside handle on the latch rod, then the lock knob and the lock cylinder onto the rod. The last step is to replace the trim panel.
