2000 Jeep Wrangler Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: First, remove the engine cylinder head cover to service and repair the rocker arm assembly. Look for rocker arm bridges that aren't aligned correctly with where the rocker arm ends. With the violin laying open, remove the capscrews at the bridges and pivot assemblies and become aware not to tighten them again by equal amounts as the bridge could be damaged. Unplug the bridges, pivots and two related rocker arms and arrange them on a bench as you removed them. Following that, take out the push rods and set them in a row on the bench. Use a cleaning solvent on all the engine parts and blast the oil passages of the rocker arms and push rods with compressed air. Put a coating of Mopar Engine Oil Supplement or an alternative, on the ends of the push rods that connect with the balls and replace them in their right spots, centering the lower end of each push rod in the tappet plunger cap. Please apply Mopar Engine Oil Supplement or similar substance to the contact point of the rocker arm and the pivot on each rocker arm. Then, install the rocker arms, pivots and the bridge above every cylinder again, using their original position as your guide. Screw in the capscrews loosely over every bridge and tighten them a little bit at each one by turning them alternately. Make certain each one is tightened to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) of torque. After that, install the cylinder head cover once more.
