2000 Jeep Wrangler Lash Adjuster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Lash Adjuster on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: The first step in servicing and repairing the lifter/lash adjuster is to remove the engine cylinder head cover. Following this, remove the bridge and pivot assemblies together with the rocker arms after unscrewing the capscrews at the bottoms of the bridges, alternating the loosening by one turn at a time. For each cylinder, extract the push rod and then work the valve tappet up and out through its channel using the Hydraulic Valve Tappet Removal/Installation Tool. You don't need to add engine oil to the tappets during installation because they will charge themselves shortly after the engine is turned on. Put each new tappet into Mopar Engine Oil Supplement before using the Hydraulic Valve Tappet Removal/Installation Tool to put it back on the engine block in its original slot. Put the push rods back in their right places, add the rocker arms and bridge and pivot assemblies and make sure you only loosely tighten the capscrews at each bridge for now. Alternate the capscrews by tightening them one turn at a time so the bridges are not harmed when you hit 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Always reinstall the engine cylinder head cover following this procedure.
