2001 Chrysler LHS Alternator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an Alternator on 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: You must first unhook the negative lead from the battery to fix or repair the alternator. Back off the lower radiator bolt, but don't remove it and then take out and relocate the upper radiator support. Adjust the lower mounting bolt, pivot bolt and belt adjustment bolt so they do not escape, but don't take them out yet. After taking off the drive belt and support strut, get rid of the lower mounting bolt. Take out the generator by removing the B+ wire, the generator field circuit plug and the generator's pivot bolt. Place the generator and attach it by setting the pivot bolt and the lower mounting bolt in position first when installing it. Screw on the B+ wire connector with a nut tightened to 9.8 Nm (85 ± 15 in. lbs.) and attach the generator field circuit terminal. Put the support bracket in place, tighten the bolts and once again install the generator drive belt. Next, tighten both pivot and lower mounting bolts, secure the upper radiator support, tighten its bolts and reconnect the negative battery cable.
