2001 Chrysler LHS Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Ensure Proper Functioning of Your Thermostat in a 2001 Chrysler LHS?
A: Check that the pressure cap is safe before you try to service the thermostat, since the spray from the hot coolant may burn you. First, take the negative cable off the remote jump point and release all the coolant from the system. Once the vehicle is raised on a hoist, get rid of the connectors linking the engine oil and pressure switches to the electronic parts. After that, remove the hoses from the thermostat housing, undo the bolts and extract the housing, thermostat and gasket. For fitting the thermostat, first clean the surfaces where the gasket will go, add the gasket and thermostat and screw it in to hold it secure in the housing. Bind the thermostat and housing around the cylinder block and set the bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Mount the heat and radiator hoses with the clamps and plug the engine oil and power steering pressure switches back into their sensors. After that, lower the vehicle again, reattach the negative cable to the remote jumper post and put coolant back into the system.
