  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Oil Pan on 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A: First, raise your car on a hoist, empty the engine oil and remove the oil filter to fix the oil pan. After that, take away the right inner splash shield and the structural collar and then remove the lower torque strut. After removing the oil filter adapter and gasket, take the oil pan gasket out of place. Clean the oil pan and all of the gasket areas properly. When installing, apply Mopar RTV GEN II silicone to the oil pump to engine block joint and afterwards, install the oil pan gasket onto the engine block. Locate the pan gasket and pan and tighten all the screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Attach and tighten the oil filter adapter and gasket so that the screws are set to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Next, fix the oil drain plug in place, after which, Set the jack down and use the correct oil to fill the engine crankcase to its required level.
