  A: The initial step to service or repair the rocker arm assembly is to take out the cylinder head cover, fuel rail and all spark plugs. Turn the engine so that the camshaft lobe on the follower being removed is set at its base circle, with the piston at least 6.3 mm (0.25 inch) below the point where TDC would be. If the cam followers are to be used again, label the positions where they were originally placed. Take care to push down the valve assembly with Special Tool 8215 and 8436 while removing the cam follower, since some parts may have to be detached for the tool to fit. Do this removal step for all of the cam followers you have. Apply engine oil to the follower before lowering each valve assembly with Special Tools 8215 and 8436. Finally, put each follower onto the hydraulic adjuster and valve stem. Go through the installation process again for every cam follower and then put in your new spark plugs, replace the fuel rail and cover the cylinder head.
