2001 Chrysler Sebring Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Rear Center Seat Belt and Retractor on 2001 Chrysler Sebring?
A: You need to remove the rear shelf trim panel to access the rear center seat belt and retractor. After that, take out the nut holding down the center rear seat belt retractor to the rear shelf before removing the rear seat cushion. After that, remove the nut holding the center rear seat belt anchor to the floor and take out the retractor assembly from the car. You should examine the shoulder/lap belt when you install and swap the retractor if it shows signs of being cut, frayed, torn or destroyed. Assemble the center rear seat belt retractor onto the rear shelf and tighten the bolt to 40 Nm/30 ft/lbs. Guide the webbing and bezel down through the rear trim panel before fix the piece back in place. Screw the nut for the center rear seat belt anchor to the mounting stud in the floor, keep track of how the belts are routed to prevent tangles and use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to 40 Nm (30 ft lbs.). Install the rear seat cushion again and tighten the rear seat back retaining nut which also acts as the center seat belt anchor, to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
