Q: How to Service an Intake Manifold on 2001 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Before working on the lower intake manifold, empty the fuel system first and then drain the coolant. Get rid of the upper intake manifold, fuel line, ignition coil and bracket, heater supply hose and engine coolant temperature sensor. Remove the fuel injector wire harness, after that, pop out the fuel injectors and rail assembly and take away the radiator upper hose. Remove each of the four intake manifold bolts and the lower intake manifold, as the thin metal gasket in the intake manifold can be dangerous to your hands. With the intake manifold seal retainers screws removed, take out the intake manifold gasket and look at and clean the manifold, chucking out the old gasket once done. Look for problems such as damage, cracks, clogged water paths and disfiguration of the cylinder head mounting surface with a straightedge and thickness device. During installation, put some Mopar Engine RTV GEN II on each corner of the manifold to cylinder head gasket, carefully set the new gasket in place and tighten the retainer screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Secure the lower intake manifold with the 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.) bolts and after that, tighten them to 22 Nm (200 in. lbs.) in the recommended sequence, doing it again a second time as instructed. Make sure the fuel injectors and rail assembly are in place after you've verified the seals, after which you should connect the injector electrical harness, engine coolant temperature sensor, heater supply, radiator upper hoses to the manifold and attach the fuel line once more. After that, fit the upper intake manifold, reconnect the negative battery cable and fill the cooling system.
