How to Replace an Oil Filter on 2001 Chrysler Town & Country?

Before servicing the filter, be sure the strap for the remove/install tool is against the can-to-base lock seam to prevent the filter can from being deformed. With the proper wrench, unscrew the oil filter counterclockwise, remove it and discard it the right way. After that, clean off the adapter base and see if there is any damage to the gasket contact surface. Apply a bit of clean engine oil to the new filter gasket and then put in the filter until the gasket touches the bottom of the filter base. Turn the filter clockwise one time or to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) with the filter wrench. When you're done, ignite the engine and make sure there are no leaks.
